Uncle Ben's issues urgent recall for rice packets as they may contain glass

Uncle Ben’s has issued an urgent recall for packets of ready to heat rice as some have been found to contain glass inside.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has revealed that 250g packets of brown basmati rice have been impacted the incident.

Products with best before dates between November 17, 2020 and May 24, 2021 may contain pieces of glass.

Customers have been urged not to eat these products and return them immediately to the shop they have bought it from or dispose of them immediately.

Supermarkets and local stores will give customers full refunds when returned.

A spokesperson for the FSA said “Mars Food UK is recalling the above product, as it may contain pieces of glass which could present a safety risk.

“Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling this product. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them hat to do if they have bought the product.

“If you have bought this product do not eat it. Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund or please dispose of it and contact Uncle Ben’s consumer care line on 0800 952 1234 for a full refund.”
