UNC football names Michael Jordan honorary captain for game against Louisville

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. _ Michael Jordan will be back at UNC this weekend, but he won't be on the court.

He'll be on the field as an honorary captain at the Tar Heels-Louisville game on Saturday, according to official team announcements on social media Monday.

Jordan was last at his alma mater to introduce a partnership between the Jordan Brand and Tar Heel football on March 4 in the Dean E. Smith Center, about a month before the basketball team would go on to win the 2017 NCAA Championship.

The university also will honor that championship team on Saturday with a ring ceremony at halftime.

The Tar Heels will play Louisville at noon Saturday in Kenan Stadium in Chapel Hill. The game will be aired on ESPN.
