Most of us are no stranger to the traditional wedding invite, sent out by a bride and groom ahead of their upcoming nuptuials.
But one invite, currently being shared online, was apparently written by the mother of a groom in what we hope is an elaborate joke.
The bride is outrageously referred to as a "tramp" who is apparently not good enough for the groom, a doctor reports The Mirror .
It's hard to tell whether it comes from a place of affection, or whether it's the sign of some pretty deep resentment.
The invite reads: "You are regretfully invited to the wedding between my perfect son, The Doctor, and some Cheap Two-Bit Tramp, whose name escapes me right now.
It goes on to proclaim that "the overwhelmingly disappointing heartbreak of a ceremony will be followed by dinner, where nuts will be served because whatsherface has an allergy."
The startling wedding invite was shared on Reddit , where one person described the groom's mum as a "pretty horrible mother".
But other users were more sceptical about its validity. One user said: "Am I the only one who thinks it's odd that they start at 9pm?"
However the odd timing could provide an insight into the monster-in-law's motives.
Another user replied: "If i didn't want a wedding to take place i would make it as inconvenient as possible for the guests to be there."
