Unbelievable mess found in rental home with mountains of rubbish and rats

A rental flat was left in an outrageously filthy state by tenants who reportedly scappered.

The squalid home was captured in all its redolent glory by clearance experts in Swansea.

It is understood the tenants quit the property while still owing rent, Wales Online reports.

In addition to discovering he had been left out of pocket as a result of his tenants' flight, the landlord was shocked to discover the horrendous amount of rubbish strewn around the house.

Footage of the flat shows one room which has a carpet that can't be seen for stacked up Lucozade bottles and other discarded rubbish.

Both the kitchen and another small room have garbage piled high on the floor, with the kitchen surfaces also laden.

Assorted bits of paper and crisp packets line the stairs on the way up to the bathroom, where empty toilet rolls abound.

Doors also appear to have been pulled from their hinges.

Dan Baker, who runs waste management service Dan The Man With A Van, says it is not the worst property he has been tasked with clearing up.

“The landlord asked me to tidy up the place, after the tenants did a runner," he said.

“He said he wasn’t going to go in there himself.

"There were even some little rats there but I've sorted them out too.

“But I have come across worse properties to clean. Students are the worst."

The house has now been restored to its original condition.
