'Unbelievable' Jason Cummings MUST be in Australia squad as struggling Soccerroos sent striker SOS

Australia boss Graham Arnold has been urged to send out an SOS for Scotland international Jason Cummings.

The Socceroos' World Cup dream is hanging by a thread. They face a tricky qualifier against Asian opposition in a play-off after losing at home to Japan last week.

Arnold is now under severe pressure and Cummings' boss at Central Coast Mariners, Nick Montgomery, has DEMANDED his striker is drafted into the squad.

The former Rangers, Hibs and Dundee star has been in good form since his move Down Under - recently bagging an injury-time goal against Adelaide United.

Cummings, who has earned two caps for Scotland in friendlies, can switch his international allegiances and Montgomery urged Australia to act now.

Montgomery said: "I don't think there's a player like him available for Australia.

"He's unbelievable on the ball, he has a great left foot and he's a natural goalscorer and yeah, he's gone through a bit of a dry period previously, but he's 26-years-old and an Australian citizen.

"I don't see how the national team can look past him. I've said to him just to keep working hard.

"Jason is top-class and his work rate around the box is first-class. He works and he scores and you can't ask much more of him."

Cummings has won two caps for the Scots, but only played a total of five minutes in two sub appearances in friendlies against Netherlands and Hungary.
