Unai Emery told who he 'needs' to pick in order to make Arsenal front three tick

The weakness of Arsenal's defence means that Unai Emery has no other choice but to pick Dani Ceballos in midfield to support the club's front three, says Gunners legend Tony Adams.

Emery started with all three of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Nicolas Pepe upfront for the first time in Sunday's North London derby against Tottenham , with both Lacazette and Aubameyang scoring in the 2-2 draw.

Ceballos was a substitute in that match, and came on for Lucas Toreira while the Gunners were trailing 2-1.

The Spaniard - who is on loan from Real Madrid for the season - immediately impressed and helped the hosts turn the screw, with plenty of Arsenal fans claiming that Emery should have played him from the start .

Former Gunners skipper Adams agrees, and says that going on the attack is "all you can do" with these players.

"We’ve just got to sort out the other end of the pitch, really. All over the place,’ Adams told Premier League Productions, via Metro .

"We’re not pulling the strings, we’re not feeding the front three.

"If we can get the ball into the front three you can see what they can do.

"Then just hope for the best at the back, I think that’s all you can do with this mob.

"Ceballos coming on and starting to make us tick, I think he was impressive.

"Just because you’ve got the three strikers, you need someone to link it.

"Actually, if we got a good back four in place we’d be going places, I think.

"That’s the problem, I was disappointed in the summer that we didn’t get someone, or two big, strong defenders.

"Because you’ve seen up the other end they are scoring goals for fun."
