Unai Emery told to copy Liverpool tactic for the rest of the season

Arsenal need to take a leaf out of Liverpool's attacking shape over the rest of the season.

That's the opinion of Gunners legend Martin Keown, who reckons the use of inside forwards to play the roles of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah can help Unai Emery's side end the season in style.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette led the line well for Arsenal as they beat Napoli 1-0 away from home to secure a spot in the Europa League semi-finals.

Both operated in wider positions with Aaron Ramsey supporting them through the middle before Henrik Mkhitaryan took on that role when the Welshman went off injured.

Keown says the potential absence of Ramsey is a major blow but should not stop Emery adopting a front three over the rest of the season with Lacazette and Aubameyang working the channels between the central defenders and full-backs.

The Gunners are chasing a Premier League top four finish and now face Valencia in the Europa League semi-finals.

Europa League semi-finals: When are the games and who plays who

Speaking on BT Sport after the game, Keown said: "He's almost had to pick two teams, one at home and one away.

"I really like this shape, with the inside forwards, and you see a lot of teams doing it now.

"Mane and Salah doing it for Liverpool , in those wide positions, has the full back got him or has centre-half?

Napoli 0-1 Arsenal (agg 0-3): 5 talking points as Alexandre Lacazette seals Europa League triumph

"They're really very quick, then you've got Ramsey joining for Arsenal, and that will be a loss, Ramsey not being there.

"Still a lot of big games left for Arsenal, trying to get into the top four of course this season."

Arsenal will be back in Premier League action at home to Crystal Palace on Sunday (4pm).
