Unai Emery told he is 'not the right boss' to lead Arsenal back to the top

Unai Emery isn't the right man to improve Arsenal because he doesn't have a plan.

That's the opinion of former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan, who has highlighted the David Luiz transfer as proof Emery 'doesn't have much about him'.

Emery made six signings in the summer transfer window, setting a new club record with the acquisition of £72million Nicolas Pepe.

The Gunners started the season positively, winning their opening two fixtures before being battered by European champions Liverpool.

David Luiz was well and truly embarrassed by Mohamed Salah in the Reds' 3-1 victory at Anfield, and Jordan believes Emery's decision to sign the Brazilian says a lot about him.

Jordan told Press Box: "I've got this image in my mind of Unai Emery, thinking that there is something about him. But maybe there just isn't?

"Because I have got Sevilla in my mind and the Europa League and what he has done there, but maybe there just isn't.

"I think there's a plan, but when I see transactions like Luiz I think 'no, there is not a plan'."

On Luiz, he added: "The press were going 'Who has had the best transfer window? Maybe Arsenal have'.

"Anybody with half a brain, with respect, looks at David Luiz and says 'Why do you want that in your dressing room, as a centre-half, when you've got a defensive unit that's not a unit?'

"He's a flat-track bully at best, we saw him fall apart for Brazil, he's lightweight and a show pony."
