Unai Emery says Laurent Koscielny change was a 'precaution' after Arsenal skipper limps off against BATE

Unai Emery has explained Laurent Koscielny’s substitution against BATE Borisov was a precautionary measure and is hopeful the defender has not suffered another injury.

Koscielny returned from a long-term Achilles injury in December and has been a regular in the Arsenal starting XI since the turn of the year.

The France international was forced off after 56 minutes in Thursday’s Europa League second-leg clash against BATE, with his replacement Sokratis going onto score the goal that effectively booked his side’s place in the last 16.

The centre-half will undergo a scan on Friday but Emery believes the issue is not a serious one.

"I think it's precaution and we are going to wait for tomorrow.

"But, I hope he will be okay for Sunday and for the next week. It's muscular, it's not a break.

"But it was only precaution because he was starting to feel not good."

He continued: "I think it's only a precaution because he didn't feel good and with the possibility that maybe if he carried on in the match, it could break.”
