Unai Emery has refused to discuss the future of Granit Xhaka as Arsenal captain, following an exchange between the midfielder and supporters during the 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace this afternoon (Sunday).
The Arsenal captain was seen gesturing towards supporters at the Emirates Stadium, having been booed by some fans as he left the field.
He responded by cupping his ears towards supporters and taking off his shirt, while he appeared to shout in the direction of some fans as he stormed down the tunnel.
But while Emery has said that he will speak to the midfielder about his reaction, he would not be drawn on whether or not Xhaka will stay as captain.
"Now is not the time to talk about that," he said, in response to a question in his post-match press conference.
Emery also moved to explain why Xhaka came off during the game, having substituted the Swiss international with the score at 2-2.
In addition, he spoke about how Arsenal will deal with Xhaka about his reaction.
"We are working with the club and the players to play under pressure," said Emery.
"We are going to speak with him because the reaction was wrong.
"We are here because we have supporters. We work for them and need to have respect for them when they are applauding us and criticising us."
