Unai Emery reveals why he chose Arsenal and moment he knew club was special

Arsenal's 4-2 win over arch rivals Tottenham back in December was a highlight of their season.

Their dramatic second half turnaround marked a perfect outcome in Unai Emery's first taste of the north London derby.

The Spaniard has now revealed the electric atmosphere at the Emirates in the second half of the stunning game was the moment he knew he had found himself at a special club.

“The second half I remember a very good, very big energy and the atmosphere was special," Emery told Copa90 when talking about their win over Tottenham .

The occasion vindicated Emery's thinking when he took the job that was simply too good to turn down.

“Big club, with big ambition," he replied when asked why he chose Arsenal .

“A big past, big present and we work at a big future.

“It’s a big challenge for me, and when a club like Arsenal call you it’s easy to say I want.

“It’s massive, the work before I arrived here, at this big club.

“It’s a big responsibility to me also, after Arsene to take it, but I take the responsibility with a big confidence in my work.

“Also because the club give me a big possibility to work with a very good training ground, a very good stadium, very good relationship with the supporters.

“Arsenal is very big not just in London but also around the world.”

Emery has made a positive impression on fans in his first season in charge and has already matched their Premier League points tally from last season with seven games remaining.

Their victory over Newcastle on Monday has put them in the driving seat for a Premier League top four finish as they moved up to third.
