The Granit Xhaka situation is one that is not going to go away for Arsenal head coach Unai Emery.
It could sort itself out in January of course, if the Swiss secures a transfer our of the club.
Xhaka angered the Arsenal supporters when he reacted poorly to being booed and substituted during the draw with Crystal Palace.
The Swiss international cupped his ear to the crowd as he left the pitch, before pulling off his Arsenal shirt and walking straight down the tunnel.
Xhaka said after the incident that the fans' reaction did not make sense to him.
He said: "Insulting and swearing at your own captain will cause upset and a bad atmosphere for the team you are actually supposed to be supporting, that makes no sense to me and weakens the team’s spirit."
Xhaka has not played for the Gunners since then, but did play and score during the international break for Switzerland.
And ahead of Arsenal's game with Southampton on Saturday, Emery has been discussing his former skipper.
He said: "He’s coming back better. His mindset is better and this morning I have a very good conversation with him. My objective is for him to come back helping us and convincing everyone that he is going to be better in the short or long future with us.
"He’s feeling better and his team is Arsenal now. He wants to come back with the confidence of the supporters.
"We are going to decide tomorrow [if he plays] but I want to give him confidence and comfort."
