Unai Emery responds to Dani Ceballos' claims about Arsenal's defeat to Liverpool

Unai Emery has responded to Dani Ceballos' claim that he had "never seen anything like what I saw at Anfield."

Arsenal suffered a 3-1 defeat to Liverpool before the international break - with Joel Matip and a Mohamed Salah brace destroying the Gunners.

After the game Real Madrid loanee Ceballos, who played 61 minutes of the match before he was replaced by Lucas Torreira, admitted he was stunned by the relentless Reds' incredible pressing style and the atmosphere at Anfield.

"I've never seen anything like what I saw at Anfield," Ceballos told the Guardian .

"I haven't seen a team that plays better, that presses like them, the way the fans carry them along.

“They take the air from you. You spend so much time defending and when you want to do something with the ball, when you want to breathe, they're back on top of you. They're very well-drilled.

"We can’t compare it at the moment."

Manager Emery has taken Ceballos' words as a positive about the Spaniard's desire to improve at Arsenal.

"Every player when they come to a new competition and a new team, they need some adaptation," Emery said ahead of the Gunners' clash with Watford .

Ceballos struggled to deal with Liverpool's famed press (PA)

"He is playing, he played for example in Liverpool and he told us that he knew in that moment how difficult it is to play in the Premier League, above all against a team like Liverpool.

"That’s good. He recognises he needs that adaptation. In each match, each training, it’s very important for him to adapt faster with us, with the new idea, with the new team and new team-mates and opposing teams.

"Really, his wish is very important for helping us and giving us his skills and his quality for each training and each match."
