Unai Emery provides Arsenal transfer update ahead of European deadline

Unai Emery admits Nacho Monreal could leave Arsenal before the European transfer window closes - but he expects Mesut Ozil to stay.

Monreal has been offered the chance to return to Spain before the window shuts on September 2, with Real Sociedad keen on a £3m deal.

Emery is willing to let him go but must decide whether to accept the move before Sunday's north London derby.

With Kieran Tierney closing in on a return to full training, Monreal, 33, is set to make the switch back to his homeland.

Asked if Monreal will go, Emery said: "Yes, he’s one possibility."

"We finish here our transfer window and in Europe it’s going to finish on Monday.

"We cannot sign another player, but we have some players the possibility to leave in next four days. The club is working. Some players know their situation."

Shkodran Mustafi and Mohamed Elneny could both yet depart before the end of the week.

Ozil meanwhile has not been involved this season due to fitness problems and concerns over the German's safety.

But he could be involved against Spurs this weekend with Emery planning on having him around for the remainder of the season.

"We are not speaking about the possibility for Mesut to leave," the Arsenal boss said.

"This week he’s training well and progressing physically better and training with normal work for us. He’s going to be closer to us and available for Sunday I think."

Emery also suggested he is finally ready to unleash Arsenal's attacking front three against Tottenham .

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Nicolas Pepe both started in the defeat to Liverpool but the pair could be joined by Alexandre Lacazette this weekend.
