Unai Emery proved right about Bukayo Saka after latest Arsenal rankings revealed

Bukayo Saka continues to surpass expectations in every game he plays for Arsenal and England.

The 19-year-old made his breakthrough season during Unai Emery's first season in charge of the Gunners - and hasn't looked back since.

And it's no surprise to see former Arsenal assistant and Under-23s manager Freddie Ljungberg lauding the winger on Sky Sports.

Ljungberg started working with Saka as a 15-year-old in the Gunners' academy and spoke ahead of the north London derby about how eager the youngster was to learn.

"He’s been with Arsenal his whole life, he loves the club, he knows what it means," Ljungberg said.

"I’m so happy every time he does well because he deserves it, he works so hard every day.

"I think he was 15 when I started coaching him. It’s been a pleasure. He came and asked me questions all the time, if there was something he knows that he can’t really do, he wouldn’t be scared or shy away from it, whereas some players do."

The latest stats show how influential Saka is in the Premier League.

He's the highest ranked teenager at Arsenal for shots, chances created, touches in the opposition box, successful dribbles and duels won.

Whilst in the Premier League he ranks first for all of the above as well as goals.

It was former head coach Emery who handed Saka his debut in a Europa League match against Qarabag in December 2018.

Emery revealed in an exclusive interview with football.london what made him stand out from the rest.

“When he started playing regularly you could look at him and see he’s a very good player," he said.

"He’s progressing as a very important player and he is a very humble person.

“It's very important because some other players don’t have the same humble qualities as him to always want to learn, listen and follow us.

“Bukayo was amazing as a person and a player. You could tell he’s a very intelligent, smart kid too.”
