Where Arsenal and Unai Emery stand on Eddie Nketiah after 12 weeks at Leeds United

Eddie Nketiah settled for his 12th benching of the season for Leeds United on Saturday, but his Arsenal boss Unai Emery has no plans to recall him.

The England under-21 star, who scored four goals in two matches during the last international break, is banging on Marcelo Bielsa’s door for more starts.

Patrick Bamford, the older, more experienced rival for United’s one striking berth, has had a year’s head start on Nketiah in Bielsa’s school of tactics.

Nketiah began his loan spell explosively with four goals in his first six appearances, but hasn’t had it his own way in his last six outings from the bench aside from that equaliser at Preston North End.

The 20-year-old has only had 265 minutes of league football so far and many of the fans at the Gunners are wondering why he’s not getting more time.

Emery addressed the issue earlier this month with a fresh take on the situation.

"Now is not the moment in October. He is now on loan in Leeds. First I respect his coach and his decision,” he said.

"And I think he is going to play more, because he is going to deserve it."
