Unai Emery was sacked by Arsenal at the end of November.
It was a largely unsuccessful 18-months in charge of the Gunners, with the Spaniard unable to secure Champions League qualification.
He did guide the club to the Europa League final, but Arsenal ultimately came up short, losing 4-1 to London rivals Chelsea in the final in Baku.
And with the Gunners languishing in mid-table in the Premier League this season, Emery bit the bullet, replaced by Mikel Arteta, who had interviewed for the job when Emery was appointed last summer.
Soon after Emery was sacked, Everton parted ways with their manager Marco Silva, following a horrible run of results.
And there was talk that Emery could replace the Portuguese at the helm on Merseyside, with reports that the Spaniard had held talks with the Goodison Park hierarchy over becoming the new boss.
And Emery has confirmed that he did hold talks with the Toffees over becoming their new boss.
In an interview on Spanish radio station El Larguero, Emery admitted that he had a 'three-hour' meeting with Everton bosses over replacing Silva as their manager.
And not only that, but Everton even approached him prior to making the move to become Paris Saint-Germain boss in 2016.
He said, translated by Marca: "Everton was interested in me.
"I thought about it. I didn't say no, we had a three-hour conversation. They already loved me when I went to PSG."
Emery did have a lengthy interview ahead of becoming Arsenal head coach and impressed his would-be employers with a 100-page dossier on players and coaching that even went into detail on some of the club’s promising academy youngsters.
