Unai Emery has given Jurgen Klopp exactly what he asked for ahead of Liverpool vs Arsenal

Jurgen Klopp made one demand of his Liverpool team before the season began.

Well, he probably made quite a few demands of them, in truth, but there was one that sticks out.

And Arsenal boss Unai Emery has given Klopp exactly what he wanted as the two teams prepare to face off against one another at Anfield this weekend.

Liverpool have not lost in any of the last eight Premier League meetings between the two teams and the Reds have bagged goals galore in those clashes at Anfield.

In the last four seasons at Anfield, the Reds have won three and drawn one, scoring 15 goals.

So it is little wonder that Gunners head coach Emery is not exactly warming to the task of playing Klopp's men.

The Spaniard's tongue was firmly in his cheek when he made an admission about this weekend's game following the victory over Burnley, but what he said will have brought a smile to Klopp's face.

Prior to the start of the season, the one demand that Klopp made of his team that resonated with the media was thus: "We have to stay the team who nobody wants to play against. Not because of the name or the quality we have, but because of the intensity we put into the game."

And just two weeks into the season, what is it that Emery jokingly said, that struck a chord with the media?

"For us we don't want to play against Liverpool ever," Emery said jokingly. "We'd prefer not to play against them."

There are differing schools of thought in the football world. Some manager will tell you they want to play against the best, to give themselves that test, to find out how good they are.

Then there are the managers who would prefer to win at all costs, and avoiding games against the better teams makes that much easier.

Whatever the situation, history tells us there are sure to be goals at Anfield this weekend.
