Arsenal head coach Unai Emery has explained why he opted for Joe Willock in central midfield against Sheffield United tonight.
The Spanish tactician made one change to the Gunners side which started the 1-0 win over Bournemouth prior to the international break.
Out has gone compatriot Dani Ceballos despite the fact he overcame a hamstring scare to play in both of Spain's Euro 2020 qualifiers against Norway and Sweden.
In place of the Real Madrid loanee is Gunners academy graduate Willock.
Another option at Emery's disposal was to hand Mesut Ozil only a second Premier League start of the campaign, but for the fourth game in a row the former Germany international doesn't make a matchday squad.
Speaking ahead of kick-off at Bramall Lane, Emery explained his team selection.
"I think he deserves it," Emery told Sky Sports. "In pre-season he played, he knows how we can play and also his characteristics with and without the ball is important for us.
"Tonight he has a very good opportunity, but I think because he deserves it.
"We are going to play with the first XI, but also the players on the bench can be important with their impact. We need everybody."
Willock started the first three Premier League games of the season - against Newcastle United, Burnley and Liverpool - but this is his first start in the competition since the 3-1 defeat at Anfield.
There's also no room in the matchday squad for Hector Bellerin, whilst Sead Kolasinac gets the nod at left-back over £25m summer signing from Celtic Kieran Tierney.
However, the good news is that Alexandre Lacazette is back on the bench after over a month out with an ankle injury.
