Unai Emery confirms major Arsenal injury blow ahead of Valencia clash

Aaron Ramsey has played his final game for Arsenal, Unai Emery has confirmed.

The Welshman picked up a hamstring injury in the Europa League quarter-final second leg against Napoli last month and has subsequently missed defeats against Crystal Palace, Wolves and Leicester City.

Initially there was hope that the midfielder would only be out of action for three weeks, thus giving him enough time to at least make one final appearance before his summer move to Juventus.

Sven Mislintat and why loaning Denis Suarez cost Arsenal more than just his wages

However, reports overnight emerged which claimed that specialists had informed the 28-year-old, who was hoping to recover in time for a potential Europa League final, will not play again until he joins the Serie A champions.

The news shocked a number of Arsenal fans on social media.

And the Gunners head coach confirmed their worst fears regarding Ramsey with the news that he won't make another appearance in the red and white of Arsenal football club.

"Yes. We cannot use him," Emery confirmed during his pre-Valencia press conference at London Colney on Wednesday afternoon. "We have players but really he was in a good moment when he got his injury.

"For me it’s a good experience with him.. His heart is red. I want to enjoy with him. I want to do something important with him.

"He is not on the pitch but he is with us."

Club captain Laurent Koscielny has also paid tribute to the Wales international.

"He loves this club," the Frenchman added. "He played 100 per cent for the club. We will miss him a lot. I think the first FA Cup we won together he gave us this trophy.

"It was a good memory."
