Unai Emery confirms five Arsenal players left out vs Liverpool but Mesut Ozil returns

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has confirmed that his side will be without five first team regulars for tomorrow night’s Carabao Cup clash against Liverpool.

And the Spaniard has also revealed that Mesut Ozil will return to his side’s matchday for the game at Anfield.

Ozil has so far been a notable absentee from the Gunners’ matchday squad, with his last appearance for the north London club coming against Nottingham Forest at the end of September in the Carabao Cup.

But Emery has confirmed that the former Germany international will be available for selcetion.

“Yes,” the former Seville boss replied when asked whether Ozil was back in the Arsenal squad for the clash against Liverpool.

“If he's in the group he has a possibility to play.”

But David Luiz, Calum Chambers, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Granit Xhaka will all be missing for the Gunners.

Xhaka was booed off by his own fans towards the end of the home game with Crystal Palace on Sunday after being substituted at the Emirates, and Emery has confirmed that the club’s captain will be remaining in the capital.

“Tomorrow, for example, he's not in the group,” the Spaniard replied when asked about the Swiss international.

“I wasn't thinking him for that match. He will stay here to train. We are going to first recover him as a person because now he's down. Then we will think on the team.”

Before adding: “For example tomorrow David Luiz, Calum Chambers, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Granit Xhaka are not in the group. Some players aren't in the group.”
