Unai Emery breaks social media silence after Arsenal sacking

Unai Emery has broken his social media silence by posting for the first time since leaving his role at the Emirates Stadium two weeks ago.

The Spaniard was shown the door after a poor start to the season, with a 2-1 Europa League defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt proving to be the last straw for Arsenal chiefs.

That defeat left the Gunners winless in seven games in all competitions, and with the possibility of Champions League football returning to the Emirates Stadium next season diminishing, Arsenal decided to take action.

Freddie Ljungberg has been in charge as caretaker manager since Emery's sacking. He has overseen one draw, one loss and one win in the Premier League. His team also came from two goals down to earn a draw in the Europa League against Standard Liege.

While the Ljungberg and the players have been continuing to work in order to try and turn their season around, Emery has given an insight into what he has been doing now he has more spare time on his hands.

"Always very grateful to this great staff. #keepworking," he posted on his Twitter account, alongside a picture of him with some of his staff at Arsenal.

Emery has been linked with an immediate return to the Premier League, with reports suggesting that Everton have contacted the Spaniard as they search for a successor to Marco Silva.
