Unai Emery and Aaron Ramsey's pact for a glorious Arsenal farewell in the Europa League

Unai Emery paid tribute to an "awesome, awesome" display by Aaron Ramsey, who the head coach believes is driven to ensure a glorious ending to his Arsenal career before he leaves this summer.

Ramsey has already agreed terms with Juventus to join them once his contract with Arsenal expires this summer but the 28-year-old has been in outstanding form for his soon-to-be former side since the move was announced in February.

His goal, the opener in a 2-0 win over Napoli in the Europa League quarter-final first-leg, might only have been his fifth of the season but Ramsey has refined his knack of being in the right place at the right time and has scored equally decisive goals against Tottenham and Newcastle United in recent weeks.

Ramsey, who has publicly said he wanted to stay at the club he joined in 2008 before they withdrew a contract offer to him, scored the winners for Arsenal in the 2014 and 2017 FA Cup Finals and it would appear he wants to add a Europa League medal to his collection.

"Awesome. Awesome." That was the description Emery offered to football.london on Ramsey's fine form for Arsenal over recent weeks.

"His performance in this moment for us [shows] he wants to do something important with us, to help us.

"He feels a lot for Arsenal. When he is with our supporters he gives us more than all he can to do the best performance, not individually, but in the collective.

"I want to enjoy this moment with him. I want to do something important with him. His focus now is very much thinking on Arsenal only."

Every word Arsenal boss Unai Emery just said on Aaron Ramsey, Napoli win and away form

The 2-0 win over Napoli has Arsenal well-placed to secure passage to the quarter-finals, though their poor form away from home in recent weeks means it is far from certain that the Gunners will make the semi-finals.

As such Ramsey insists he is not getting carried away with dreams of another winner in the final.

I haven’t though about that," he said after the win. "We've started this first leg well so hopefully we can finish the job and get ourselves in the hat for the next round."
