The team went a way to doing that in recording a 7-0 win over Morecambe FC in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.
However, a disappointing 45 minutes at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has erased any momentum built from that win.
Lucas Moura’s back-post finish put Jose Mourinho’s man into a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute, and Spurs could have added to their lead in the remaining 20 minutes, with Son Heung-min hitting the woodwork on two occasions.
