Una Healy 'wouldn't rule out' representing Ireland in the Eurovision

Una Healy has admitted she would like to represent Ireland in the Eurovision – but only if she had the right song for the contest.

The Tipperary beauty took part as a backing singer for Brian Kennedy’s Every Song Is A Cry For Love in 2006 in Athens.

The mum-of-two also said she wouldn’t rule out ever representing Ireland in the esteemed competition.

“I don’t know. Maybe, actually. Yeah, I wouldn’t say never," she said.

"Again, it would all depend on the song. You would have to get real amazing banger of a song or a huge, amazing ballad. It would have to be unbelievable. I wouldn’t do it unless I had the right song.

“If I write a song that I feel is for the Eurovision then maybe I would do that but my music at the minute I don’t feel is very Eurovision-esque really."

Una also admitted she felt relieved when she was chosen to join The Saturdays after auditioning to be in the girl group.

She told Fascinated podcast with Gearoid Farrelly: “It was a long old process. It went on all summer actually. 15 years ago now this summer now that was.

“I knew there was something really special about it. The fact that the five of us all got on very well and every individual was so different and fun and talented that I felt that this can’t go wrong now with the right songs.

“Because I struggled for so many years before I got into the group, like that was my big break and it was almost like a relief.

"When people say what are the pressures of being in a girl band, for me it was like a pressure release. I knew I was really lucky."

The 39-year-old recently set pulses racing when she was spotted swimming in Clontarf in Dublin on Sunday wearing a bright red one piece, which featured a black zip down the front.

Famous pals flooded her with comments saying how she looked like a “Baywatch babe” as she posed on the pier in the one piece.

Una captioned the snap: "Making the most of the sunshine."

Jedward said: “Una Healy, Baywatch babe.”

Model and TV host Glenda Gilson also chimed in saying, ‘looking good’, whilst fellow flame haired Irish beauty Angela Scanlon said: “sweet mama” followed by fire emojis.
