Una Healy has said she’s committed to preserving her kids relationship with dad Ben Foden despite him now living in the US with his new wife and child.
The Irish singer, 39, split with her ex hubby in 2018, and has gone on to move home to her native Tipperary with their kids Aoife Belle, eight, and Tadhg, six.
However, as Ben, 35, is now based in the US with his new wife, Jackie Belanoff Smith and their baby girl Farrah Abra Foden, who was born last May, Una said she’s determined to ensure her kids are still connected to their dad.
During an interview on Lorraine on Tuesday, the Thurles woman talked about why she believes it is important to ‘preserve’ that relationship.
She said: "They absolutely are [the most important thing], they are my world, Aoife and Tadhg, they really are.
Lifting the lid on the impact of their separation on the kids, the former Saturdays singer added: “They’re still so young as well.
“So it’s very important to preserve the best relationship as possible with their dad, although he does live very far away and he has a new wife and a child.
"I always try and nurture that relationship that they have, they communicate… they were just on FaceTime yesterday.”
“He sees them when he can and I will always try and protect that relationship as best as possible."
Una, who recently debuted her brand-new single, Swear It All Again, went on to open up about why she refuses to bad mouth her ex in public.
“And because I’m in the public eye, I get asked about him, I would never bad-mouth him or say anything bad because I don’t think that’s fair on the kids.
“That’s just how I feel on the whole thing.”
Una also told the hilarious story of a recent date she went on that went horribly wrong as the man got into an accident and ended up concussed on the way.
“I’m finished with dating apps, that’s all I have to say,” she laughed.
Ben married his second wife Jackie Belanoff Smith on board a luxury yacht in Nantucket, Massachusetts, two weeks after they started dating.
