United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres underlined on Tuesday his support to Yemen’s legitimate president, Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi.
In a message delivered to Hadi by UN envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths, Guterres also underscored the security, safety, unity and stability of Yemen.
Hadi received Griffiths in Riyadh.
“I reconfirmed my support for the government of Yemen in its efforts to restore stability in the south and the need to respect Yemen state institutions. I also thanked him for his constructive leadership on Hodeidah,” tweeted the envoy.
Discussions focused on Griffiths’ efforts to push forward the peace process after it stalled due to the Iran-backed Houthis’ failure to respect their commitments.
Hadi declared that “side developments and problems will not deter us from seriously searching for permanent solutions to the crisis in Yemen.”
He added that efforts were underway to overcome the recent developments in Aden, Abyan and Shabwa.
