
United Nations envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths held talks on Tuesday with Emirati officials the situation in the war-torn country.
In a tweet, the envoy said he met in Abu Dhabi with Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Anwar Gargash, and Minister of State for International Cooperation, Reem Al Hashemy.
He said they discussed the peace process in Yemen and the necessary steps that should be respected in implementing the Stockholm agreement.
“I am greatly encouraged by the UAE's commitment and support,” he stated.
For his part, Gargash said the Saudi-Arab coalition seeks a sustainable solution that enhances security and stability in the region through a capable Yemeni state and solid constitutional institutions.
He urged the need to carry out the provisions of the Stockholm deal and the importance of pressure from the international community to implement the obligations contained in the agreement and to condemn systematic violations during this period.
On Monday, Griffiths revealed that he had held a productive meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Moscow.
“I welcome Russia's constructive engagement in our endeavors to achieve peace in Yemen,” he tweeted.
