United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator for Yemen Lise Grande condemned the Iran-backed Houthi militias for their shelling last week of a refugee camp in the Khokha district in the Hodeidah province.
She said in a statement: “We unequivocally condemn the attack and extend our deepest condolences to the families of the victims.”
“What is happening in Yemen is shocking. There’s no other way to describe it,” she continued.
A number of the wounded were being treated at a field hospital in Mokha in the Taiz province, said the statement.
Health partners stand ready to transport the most critically injured to Aden, it continued.
Assistance is also being rushed to families who have sought safety in the camp for the internally displaced.
On Friday, the Houthis shelled a King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) camp in Kkhoka, leaving a woman dead and dozens of people injured, many critically.
