UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed concern on Saturday over the violent clashes in the temporary Yemeni capital, Aden, and urged the parties to cease hostilities.
In a statement, Guterres called on the parties in the conflict “to engage in an inclusive dialogue to resolve their differences and address the legitimate concerns of all Yemenis.”
Medical sources said on Friday that at least eight civilians were killed in Aden amid renewed fighting between southern separatists, from the so-called Southern Transitional Council, and legitimate government forces.
The third day of unrest spread to the northern sections of Aden amid calls to open humanitarian corridors for hundreds of trapped residents.
Local field sources said several people were killed and wounded in shelling with heavy and medium weapons.
