Umpire Angel Hernandez made incorrect calls on all 3 of Joey Votto’s strikeouts

As we have pointed out numerous times over the years, umpire Angel Hernandez is bad at his job.

He’s turned games into complete messes by failing to enforce rules correctly. His strike zone is inconsistent. He’s quick to engage in confrontations with players and managers. And apparently, he’s not a big fan of Joey Votto.

At least it seemed that way on Sunday.

During the Cincinnati Reds’ game against the Chicago Cubs, Hernandez served as the home-plate umpire, and on three straight Joey Votto strikeouts, Hernandez called Strike 3 on pitches that were clearly outside of the strike zone. It’s not the hat trick that an umpire should welcome.

Votto was clearly frustrated with Hernandez and understandably so — he continues to miss calls that MLB umpires simply shouldn’t miss.

This didn’t just apply to Votto on Sunday either.

At some point, MLB needs to put an end to this madness. He’s that bad.
