Umar Sadiq emerges as shock Alfredo Morelos transfer alternative for striker-mad Lille

Lille have launched a shock bid to sign Rangers flop Umar Sadiq as an alternative to Alfredo Morelos - according to a report.

The French giants have Financial Fair Play issues and and face some serious signing questions this summer.

And they've moved onto a player who couldn't get a game for the Ibrox side because of the form of Morelos - who grabbed his first two goals of the season on Sunday.

Sadiq has impressed since joining Partizan Belgrade after his Rangers loan spell ended with just four appearances and no goals in Steven Gerrard's first campaign.

However, Nigerian outlet OwnGoal Nigeria say Lille have submitted a second bid in for him but it isn't at the level that Partizan Belgrade want for the frontman.

They believe they can sell him for a fee of at least €15million, but the Ligue 1 side haven't got close to that yet.

Sadiq grabbed a brace for Partizan at the weekend in a 4-0 win and netted 17 times in the Serbian top flight last season.

Manchester United have been heavily linked with a move for him while Lille’s Ligue 1 rivals Monaco are also interested in signing him.

A move for Sadiq could lead to an extended stay for Morelos, with Lille also looking to complete the signing of Jonathan David from Genk.

Lille reportedly had their most recent bid of £16.25m turned down by Rangers late last week, with the Ibrox side holding out for at least £20m.
