Um, Did Hugh Jackman Just Throw Instagram Shade At His Ex Deborra-Lee Furness?

Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness

Have you heard the news? Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness have officially filed for divorce, two years after announcing their split.

If your answer was no, I’m surprised! Because the news came with a scathing statement made by Furness, addressing the “betrayal” she has felt at the hands of Jackman, who famously got with Broadway co-star Sutton Foster following their separation.

As for the Wolverine star, he did not make a statement, per se, but he did drop the following Reel on Instagram and punters reckon it’s laced with shade.

Shortly after Furness’ brutal statement became worldwide news, Jackman shared a clip from one of his sellout one-man shows, Hugh Jackman: From New York with Love.

In the video, which was captioned: “FINALLY”, Jackman can be seen skipping, smiling and laughing while performing a dance routine to — wait for it — the NSYNC song “Bye Bye Bye”.

Punters were quick to take to the comments, accusing the actor of being shady.

“The undertone is poor form, not so Mr Nice Guy,” wrote one commenter.

“Song crystallises your true self. Very poor taste indeed. Disappointing,” wrote another.

A third simply wrote: “Remember that time he left his wife of 28 years for his young co-star?”

In Furness’ statement to the Daily Mail, she wrote: “My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal.

“It’s a profound wound that cuts deep, however I believe in a higher power and that God/the universe, whatever you relate to as your guidance, is always working FOR us.

“This belief has helped me navigate the breakdown of an almost three-decade marriage.”

“I have gained much knowledge and wisdom through this experience,” she continued. “Even when we are presented with apparent adversity, it is leading us to our greatest good, our true purpose. It can hurt, but in the long run, returning to yourself and living within your own integrity, values and boundaries is liberation and freedom.”

She concluded her statement with the “one thing” that she has learned from this whole debacle, which is “that none of this is personal”, adding: “We are all on our individual journeys and I believe that the relationships in our lives are not random.

“We are drawn to people, we invite them in, in order to learn our lessons and to recognise and heal the broken parts of ourselves… I remain grateful.”

The Aussie actress filed for divorce in New York on May 23 after the pair reached an agreement regarding their $250M fortune.

“A settlement was reached that Deborra is pleased with, which includes a handsome spousal support payment,” a source told the Daily Mail Tuesday.

Furness’ lawyer Elena Karabatos also submitted filings in the divorce matter including a notice about the continuation of health care coverage, a proposed qualified medical child support order, a New York state case registry form (used to report child support orders to the state’s registry), the settlement, a proposed judgment of divorce, and certificate of dissolution.

The source added: “There was some back and forth regarding this financial agreement but, in the end, [Deborra] got what she believed she deserved. Both are coming out of this financially secure.”

The insider said Furness has finally gotten the “closure she needed”.

As for Hugh, he’s skipping off into the sunset (literally!).
