Cambuslang singer Midge Ure is aiming to be back on stage next year.
The Ultravox frontman is planning a new tour, which includes a date in his home city of Glasgow at the legendary Barrowland venue on February 26, 2022.
The coronavirus pandemic has currently halted gigs across Europe.
However Midge, who grew up locally and attended Rutherglen Academy, is optimistic that there will be a change by next year and that he will be able to get back out in front of his fans.
His Voices and Visions tour will be mark the 40th anniversary of two of Ultravox’s most celebrated releases, Rage In Eden and Quartet.
Midge explained: “‘I can’t begin to tell you how great it feels to be back out touring after the uncertainty of the past two years. And it is especially exciting to delve back in time and revitalise two standout albums from my career – Rage in Eden and Quartet.
“This is the logical and emotional follow up to the 1980 tour in 2019.”
The 1980 series of shows were focused around Midge’s 1980 releases, of Ultravox’s Vienna and Visage’s self titled debut offering.
Now his attention will shift to his work in 1981 and 1982. After the global success of ‘Vienna’, Ultravox headed back into the studio invigorated and recorded their second album with Ure as frontman, Rage in Eden, which hit the Top 5 in the UK album charts. Quartet, their third album with Ure, came in quick succession in 1982, with production from legendary Beatles producer George Martin.

Continuing the band’s impressive chart run, it became their third Top 10 album, featuring four Top 20 singles including fan favourite track Hymn.
The tour will start next February 22 in York before travelling across the country, including his homecoming date at the Barrowland.
Tickets will go on sale at 10am this Friday from midgeure.gigantic.com and venue box offices.
