Type Soul Arrancar/Hollow Weapon Tier List

When it comes to the best Type Soul Arrancar/Hollow weapons the strongest options usually have true combos or great combo starters. These are the S-Tiers along with some A-Tiers which you should always use. B-Tiers have good gimmicks and can still sometimes be viable. I would avoid C and D-Tier options where C are underpowered and D unusable. Let's check out each Arrancar weapon individually below.
Soul Reaper: If you're a shinigami then you might enjoy our Shikai & Bankai tier list.
Quincy: For Quincy players we have a Schrift & Volt tier list
Clan: Lastly, check out the best clans for your build.
S-Tier Weapons
Hollow/Arrancar Weapon | Notes |
---|---|
![]() Nelliel's Katana |
• Some of the fastest M1s and crits in Type Soul • The crit is so fast that you'll usually connect after a parry and it's also difficult to parry because it has virtually no start-up so the opponent has to react in a split second • The hold crit is okay but it's mostly for closing the distance against enemies who are zoning you |
![]() Cerocrusher |
• Currently my favorite weapon for Ground Hakuda across all races because the moves here true combo well with Hakuda • There's variants for the crits if you have enough Kido • Just don't use the S crit because it has endlag so you can get punished |
![]() Abject |
• The Arrancar Abject is really good due to the combination of great damage on crit and M1s and the Rei steal • The crit steals Rei which is incredibly strong in the current Meta since Rei regen is nerfed on all races • The crit also has a great range plus AOE and it also guardbreaks • Arrancars have arguably the best Abject variant |
![]() Ulquoirra's Katana |
• The most fluid and flexible M1s in the game because they have great speed and almost greatsword range • The crit is also one of the best ones in the game because it has great range and mobility while dealing good damage and guardbreaking for a start-up from far away • Plus, the crit is great for mind games and starting comboes on any build so this is a very flexibile weapon |
![]() Destello |
• Destello is really good for one reason and that's a huge hitbox on the crit dash/charge that already does a lot of damage if it grabs • Difficult to dodge and the crits also ragdoll • Plus, the M1s are really good |
![]() Hollowburden |
• Great M1 speed with Hollowburden and you also get some mobility and closing the distance with the crit • That said, the main strength is that every fourth crit will be extremely fast and ragdoll enemies for a combo start |
![]() Elipson |
• Elipson is really good at starting combos with its crit because it has a wide AOE swing that stuns so you can combo from it into any fast move or M1 spam • The crit variant is usually hard to land since it has a slow start-up but you can time it to catch people coming out of flashstep which is really good |
![]() Grimmjow's Claws |
• The best M1s in the game IMO due to the speed and the bleed on the fifth hit • The crit is fast, guardbreaks, applies bleed and can be extended with a jump • My second-favorite Hakuda weapon |
![]() Fire Knight's Greatsword |
• Fast M1s and great range • Holding crit is really good due to the hyperarmor charge that can be extended with a jump • The neutral crit is great damage and it's great for a combo start due to the guardbreak |
A-Tier Weapons
Hollow/Arrancar Weapon | Notes |
---|---|
![]() Nelliel's Lance |
• The crit is really good due to the guardbreak combo starter but it no longer guardbreaks at long range • That said, I won't put it in S-Tier like many other players because I just hate how slow the M1s are |
![]() Murasama |
• Unlike the Legacy version the new Murasama is really good with reliable fast M1s, low CDs and good Style bar generation • The unsheathed crit does have a slow wind up but you have hyperarmor during it so it's a decent trading tool if your opponent attacks int oit • The sheathed version is better after a combo starter because it's faster but note that it doesn't have hyperarmor |
![]() Soul Leg |
• Amazing with Hakuda because the crit launches enemies into the air which perfectly combos with Air Hakuda Tora Reach or Ground Hakuda Dragon's Descent |
![]() Heatpiercer |
• One of the fastest M1 combos though they do have low range which is why it's A-Tier • The neutral crit is really good because it slightly makes up for the range with its projectiles and deals great damage, burn and guardbreaks if all three hit • The follow up is usually not worth it unless you trigger the guardbreak on the start-up because they can just hold F and block the follow up |
![]() Nnoitra's Scythe |
• Decent M1s but this is a great weapon that focuses on the crit because it's mobility, guardbreak and disables flashsteps so it's a great debuff and combo starter |
![]() Yamato |
• Overall amazing on Speed builds to get a guardbreak with the Crit because Speed doesn't have many guardbreaks • M1s are decently fast so they're good combo extenders |
B-Tier Weapons
Hollow/Arrancar Weapon | Notes |
---|---|
![]() Siphon's Wretch |
• Siphon's Wretch's speed got nerfed to the ground • Still, it's a decent weapon due to the Reiatsu steal on the crit because all Reiatsu regeneration for all races got nerfed and there's no more Rei on accessories • This means that Rei you steal is harder to get back |
![]() Scar |
• So Scar is middle of the pack because the M1s and the crit are good at dealing great damage • That said the crit knocks them back so far that you can't really combo into anything so B-Tier is perfect here |
![]() Verglas |
• Verglas has decent damage but you'll mostly use it to freeze enemies in teamfights • It would be higher if you could true combo into something else from the freeze crit but you can't |
![]() Tessen |
• Such a wasted opportunity on Tessen because the first hit from the crit guardbreaks them for a great combo start but there's a second in-built hit that stops you from doing any combos you want • Still a decent weapon with good M1s though but a wasted opportunity for an S-Tier combo starter |
![]() Harribel's Dagger |
• Harribel's Dagger is good because the crit has guardbreak and high posture with parry defense in-built because even if they parry the first hit the second cero hit is automatic • That said the air variant crit is really bad and easily punished plus the M1s have low range so this goes from A into B |
![]() Wonderweiss Sword |
• The Wonderweiss Sword is kind of like Scar because it does great damage but it just knocks them back with the Crit so it doesn't really combo and synergize with anything |
C-Tier Weapons
Hollow/Arrancar Weapon | Notes |
---|---|
![]() Serpentinize's Breaker |
• The M1s here are slow and though they have long range they don't have hyperarmor • The crit is decent because it guardbreaks and pulls them in but it doesn't really combo well with anything • The best weapon in C-Tier for what it's worth due to the decent crit |
![]() Unstable |
• Not a huge fun of Unstable due to the slow and easy-to-dodge crit • That said the M1 combo is okay and the crit does guardbreak so this isn't useless |
![]() Bloodedge |
• Bloodedge used to be good when it could combo into Rising Swallow with its crit but now there's end lag on the move • This kind of sucks because it can no longer true combo like before • It's not D since the forward crit is still decent but I wouldn't use this |
![]() Calibre |
• Good at poking enemies from a distance but fights usually get close real quick and you're left with attacks that have wind-up so they're easy to punish • The crit is pretty decent because it guardbreaks but it's really hard to land if you're under pressure • Overall ranged tools in Type Soul tend to be good against beginners but experienced players will just rush you down and pressure you • Plus the air crit has slow wind up and deals low damage so don't use it |
D-Tier Weapons
Hollow/Arrancar Weapon | Notes |
---|---|
![]() Piety |
• The M1s are slow here and the critical has a windup so if you miss it's easy to get punished • The ranged crit sounds good but then you realize you can just dodge it towards them and M1 them or just block it since it doesn't guardbreak • Only ever good for meme-ing with the range crit spam in a group |
![]() Legacy Murasama |
• I really don't recommend this weapon due to the easy-to-dodge and parry M1s • And while the crit AOE might sound good, the 1-second windup is terrible since someone can just M1 you, interrupt the crit and start their own combo • Avoid this |
![]() Cloud Splitter |
• This weapon had so much potential but in reality it's just awkward to use with its many inputs on crits and each crit having endlag that means you're getting punished if they dodge them • The moves don't even do that much damage and you'll just easily get punished each time you do a crit against experienced players |
![]() Barragan's Axe |
• No longer stuns as much so you can't combo this into other moves well • You're just left with a crit that punishes you if you miss since it has end lag • Never use this |
