Rangers winger Oscar Cortes reckons quitting the Ibrox club can help him make it to the World Cup with Colombia.
The 21-year-old winger has been shipped out on loan to Spanish second tier side Sporting Gijon for the rest of the season after failing to make any impact with Rangers.
Rangers had an obligation to buy Cortes for a reported fee of £4.5 million after he initially joined on loan from Lens, which they did in the summer before farming him out on loan to Spain.
And he is hoping he can win an international recall from Colombia and play in next summer's World Cup Finals.
He said: "My ambition has always been to get back into the national squad and playing every week here could help me do that.
"Obviously, playing at the World Cup would be my ultimate goal.
