Ulta CEO's 2015 pay package nearly triples to $18.5 million

April 21--Ulta Beauty's growth last year also showed up in the beauty retailer's CEO's pay package.

CEO Mary Dillon earned about $18.5 million in total compensation last year, according to a filing Wednesday with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

That's triple the roughly $6.2 million she earned in 2014. Dillon, who became CEO in 2013, received a 3 percent base salary raise in March to $1 million. She also received about $3.5 million in stock awards, incentive and bonus pay, and $49,646 in other compensation.

Ulta's compensation committee increased Dillon's incentives in March and September. On Sept. 15, the committee awarded her 200,000 stock options "in recognition of our record operational and financial performance under her leadership."

Option awards, worth $13.9 million, made up the bulk of her compensation.

Ulta's sales online and at stores open at least 14 months were up nearly 12 percent in the 2015 fiscal year, while online sales jumped 47.5 percent, the company said in March. Ulta also reported a 25 percent increase in net income per diluted common share in 2015.

The beauty retailer is continuing its expansion, with plans to open 100 new stores in 2016 after adding about 100 in each of the past two years. Ulta had 874 stores at the end of 2015. The company reports earnings for the first quarter May 26.
