Ulta Beauty opening downtown Chicago office

April 01--Ulta Beauty plans to open its first downtown Chicago office this summer.

The Bolingbrook-based retailer's new 23,000-square-foot satellite office, with 100 workstations, will be at 120 S. Riverside Plaza, according to a statement from Ulta CEO Mary Dillon and Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

"A Chicago location offers our existing employees more flexibility and the ability to collaborate with business partners in new ways, and it will also help us continue to attract the top talent we need to fuel our growth," Dillon said in the news release. "Additionally, our new satellite office solidifies our position as members of the Chicagoland community and reflects our continued commitment to this world-class city."

Crain's Chicago Business first reported the announcement on Friday.

Ulta plans to open 100 new stores in 2016, after adding about 100 in each of the past two years, the company said earlier this month. Ulta had 874 stores at the end of 2015.

The company also has been expanding its Bolingbrook headquarters. Last year, Ulta signed a 13-year lease renewal that increased its space by 66 percent, enough room for an additional 340 workers, a commercial real estate investment firm announced at the time.
