Sean Reidy insists Ulster can’t be distracted by other results or knockout permutations when they conclude their Champions Cup pool campaign against Bath this weekend.
A home quarter-final is still an outside possibility following Saturday’s 29-13 defeat to Clermont who top the pool going into the final round of fixtures.
But Reidy knows Ulster need to focus on beating Bath in Belfast to rubber-stamp progress of any kind to the last eight of the competition for the second successive year.
He also agrees with iain Henderson who says dan McFarland’s men need to process their defeat at Stade Marcel Michelin quickly and show “bouncebackability” on Saturday.
“That’s it, without a doubt,” said Reidy.
“We have a few learnings to take from the Clermont game but we’re excited to be going back to the Kingspan Stadium and we go again. you don’t get any second chances, we’ve got to put this result to one side and look at Bath because it's another massive game.”
With Clermont, who travel to Harlequins on Saturday, favourites to top the pool, Ulster are relying on the French slipping up to have any hope of securing a home quarter-final.
“You never know,” said Reidy.
“The Stoop is a tough place to go but we’ll just focus on ourselves. We have to come out all guns blazing.”
