Ulster's Kieran Treadwell slapped with three-week ban

Ulster's Kieran Treadwell has been slapped with a three week ban for an act of foul play in the PRO14 clash with Scarlets last Sunday.

Treadwell secured the bonus point for the province in the Kingspan Stadium encounter but was sin-binned in the 16th minute for a high tackle on prop Javan Sebastian.

After reviewing the incident, the citing commissioner deemed that the 25-year-old lock had committed an act of foul play and, in a hearing today, it was determined that Treadwell's actions warranted a red card.

The incident was deemed a mid-range offence, which carries a six-week suspension.

Treadwell's previous clean disciplinary record, acceptance of his actions, co-operation and remorse shown warranted application of maximum mitigation, so his ban was halved to three weeks.

He will be free to return from midnight on December 19 and has the right to appeal.

Meanwhile, Connacht's scheduled clash with Ospreys tomorrow has been postponed due to one Ospreys player returning a positive Covid-19 test, with others identified as close contacts.

Benetton Rugby, who played against Ospreys on Sunday, carried out routine squad testing this week and returned negative results all round.

PRO14 chiefs will examine potential dates in early 2021 to reschedule the game.
