Ulster's Heineken Cup quarter-final with Toulouse on April 5 expected to proceed despite Coronavirus concerns

Ulster’s Heineken Champions Cup quarter-final with Toulouse is expected to proceed as scheduled on April 5 despite concerns around the global Coronavirus outbreak.

Dan McFarland’s men are due to face the French kingpins in a high-profile last eight tie at the Stade Ernest Wallon in just over three weeks time.

But despite this weekend’s Six Nations clash between France and Ireland in Paris being postponed, the EPCR has stated the forthcoming European ties aren’t currently under threat.

The competition's governing body has said it will continue to liaise with the relevant health authorities, but it is hoped all eight Heineken Cup and Challenge Cup quarter-finals will commence as planned.

A spokesman said: “It is currently envisaged that the Heineken Champions Cup and European Rugby Challenge Cup quarter-final matches will go ahead as scheduled.

“EPCR intends to complete all eight fixtures and will continue to monitor developments while liaising with the relevant league and union bodies, as well as governments and local authorities.

“EPCR is fully supportive of preventative measures that might be required in the interests of overall public health in relation to Covid-19 and will respect instructions provided by authorities.”

Leinster are also scheduled to host Saracens in the Heineken Cup quarter-finals in Dublin on April 4.
