Ulster's Guinness Pro14 game against Benetton called off due to coronavirus fears in Italy

Ulster’s Guinness Pro14 clash with Benetton in Treviso has been postponed due to concerns around the spread of coronavirus in Italy.

Dan McFarland’s men were scheduled to travel to Stadio Monigo this weekend, but the game has been called off and will now be rescheduled for later in the season.

More than 200 people have been infected with COVID-19 in Italy, with at least five deaths reported and a dozen towns in lockdown.

Welsh club Ospreys' trip to play Zebre in Parma has also been shelved, while Italy’s women’s Six Nations clash with Scotland was called off at the weekend.

A number of Serie A football fixtures have also been postponed, while the Italian Rugby Federation has suspended this week’s National Championship and youth games.

In the northern regions of Lombardy and Veneto in Italy, a lock-down is in place in several small towns.

Parma, where Zebre play, is in the Emilia-Romagna region, immediately to the south of Lombardy and Veneto.
