John Cooney insists it was a no-brainer signing a new contract with Ulster Rugby - especially with his mother prodding him in the right direction.
Cooney will remain at Ravenhill until at least 2025 after agreeing fresh terms with the province.
The scrum-half arrived in Belfast in 2017 and has gone on to score over 900 points for Ulster and become a fans' favourite along the way.

Cooney says Belfast has "become my home", and added his mother was a huge fan of the city and Ulster Rugby.
"I am absolutely delighted. It has flown in, six years I'm nearly here," Cooney said.
"It has become my home, and my mum absolutely loves it. She comes to every game.
"She can never actually watch any of my kicks, but she makes me go home after and show her on TV.
"She was constantly in my ear about how important this club is, and how important the people are. I obviously knew that already, but she is delighted and she is a big 'Y' for me."
Cooney added: "I absolutely love it here. It is my home, and to be here for eight years, and maybe play for another 12 years after that!
"I feel great and I am loving it here, and I can't wait for another two years."
Cooney also praised Ulster's fans after agreeing his new deal.
The former Leinster scrum-half also told the club's website: “When we’re playing a match, there will be countless fans who are away and on their holidays, but their day will revolve around which Irish pub they can go to watch us play.
“That’s insane. How can I not give 100% all the time. That’s how important this club is to our people. That’s special!”
