Ulster GAA community in mourning after tragic death of Leah Farrelly

The Cavan GAA community is in mourning following news of the tragic death of footballer Leah Farrelly.

A death notice stated that Farrelly, who was a valued member of the Virginia GAA community, had passed away unexpectedly at her home on Friday.

She had played football for Lurgan Ladies GFC since the age of 10.

A club statement released on Twitter read: "Our hearts are broken as we offer our sincerest sympathies to Dessie, Nuala and Grace and their families on the sudden passing of Leah.

"Words fail us. May Leah Rest in Peace."

Leah played a number of sports including basketball for the East Cavan Eagles.

A club statement from her basketball team read: "It is with shock and deep sadness that we announce the sudden death of Senior ladies player Leah Farrelly.

"Leah played basketball from underage up to senior and was a valued member of our Eagles club. Our thoughts and prayers are with Desi, Nuala and her sister Grace. "
