Ulrika Jonsson unveils enormous tattoo tribute to her dead dog Nessie

Ulrika Jonsson has unveiled a tattoo tribute to her beloved bulldog Nessie, who passed away last year.

The heartbroken 53-year-old television presenter was left devastated last December when her pooch died of kidney failure after spending two days at the vets.

But now Ulrika has a permanent reminder of her pet – which she previously called her “first born fur baby”.

Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, Ulrika posed in the mirror and shared a photo of herself showing a huge sunflower tattoo on her arm.

Beneath the yellow inking was the name “Nessie” written in black ink and in simple joined-lettering calligraphy.

Explaining the design, Ulrika wrote: “Sunflower in tribute to my Nessie. Royal Empire My Fair Lady.”

She added she chose a sunflower: “Because she always sat in the sun.”

Supportive fans left messages of condolence underneath Ulrika’s post, with one writing: “Losing a dog is beyond heart breaking because they are so much more than that… Love your tribute.”

While another typed: “Awww this is a gorgeous tribute to her. Our bulldog, Stella, loves sitting in the sun too.”

Ulrica shared the sad news that Nessie died in December last year.

She wrote online at the time: “Ma grande dame. My first born fur baby. Has spent 48hrs at our lovely vet’s.

“She’s not going to win this battle. I’ve been beyond distraught and bereft. We will keep her at home as long as we can. My girl.”

The bulldog died due to kidney failure with vets sadly unable to treat the life-taking illness.

Ulrica has a number of other dogs including one called Lady Marmalade, and another bulldog called Leo.

On Wednesday, the star shared a video of her beloved bulldog eating biscuits with her in bed.

She joked with the pooch: “You always eat everything so fast and then it’s gone. Now it’s all gone. All the biscuits are gone.

“Who ate the biscuits? Did you eat the biscuits? Was it you Leo?”
