KALYAN: A 70-year- old woman from Ulhasnagar, Kavita Tejwani, was robbed of 70gm of gold ornaments worth nearly 3 lakh around 8.30pm on Tuesday. A man in his early twenties barged into Tejwani’s third-floor flat and snatched the earrings she was wearing, causing injury to the ears.
Tejwani was alone at home; her son was at work, police said.
Threatening to kill the elderly woman, the assailant gagged her and relieved her of the ornaments, including her earrings, said her complaint.
The police said the building’s CCTV was not working.
An officer said they suspect it to be the handiwork of someone who was in the know of the goings-on in the household.”
