Ukrainians protest as gas price dispute leaves houses freezing

Hundreds of Ukrainians took to the streets, protesting a sharp increase in gas price by the national gas company.

A dispute over gas prices has left more than a million people without supply, leaving them without heating.

Gas prices have been increased by 23 percent in Ukraine. Supply to those who couldn’t pay was cut off. As a result, at least six towns - with a combined population of more than a million - have to do without heating.

Al Jazeera's Victoria Gatenby reports.
