Ukrainians flee to shelter as Russia carries out night-time bombardment

  • Russia launched a large-scale drone and missile attack on Kyiv in the early hours of Friday, 4 July 2025.
  • Ukrainian residents sought shelter in underground metro stations as explosions and smoke were seen across the capital.
  • The assault involved 550 drones and missiles, with Kyiv as the "main target," resulting in 23 people being injured.
  • Volodymyr Zelensky characterised the attack as "one of the most large-scale air attacks – deliberately massive and cynical."
