Immigration police in Phuket have arrested a 26-year-old Ukrainian man wanted under an Interpol Red Notice for alleged investment scams.

Phuket immigration police announced the arrest but did not give the suspect's name or the location of the bust.

The Ukrainian was wanted for alleged involvement in a gang that created a Telegram chat account and the fake “Bybit” platform to lure victims into fraudulent cryptocurrency investments. The gang was reportedly based in Kyiv. In September last year a victim complained about a loss of US$1,981 (about 66,000 baht).

Foreign investigators were checking if there were any more victims. Thai immigration police revoked the man's visa and have begun working on his extradition.
