Ukrainian saboteurs blow up Russian railway tracks and derail trains

  • Ukrainian special forces claimed responsibility for two separate operations that caused train derailments and an explosion on Russian railway lines.
  • At least three Russian guards died in Oryol after unidentified mines exploded during a de-mining process on railway lines, approximately 120 miles from the Ukrainian border.
  • Two trains, including a diesel locomotive and a freight train carrying empty fuel tanks, derailed near St Petersburg following the Ukrainian attacks.
  • Ukrainian military sources stated these operations aimed to disrupt critical supply routes for Russian forces operating in the Kharkiv and Sumy directions, causing significant transport delays.
  • The railway attacks follow recent Ukrainian strikes on a Russian oil refinery in Kirishi, Leningrad, and previous drone attacks that led to numerous airport closures in Moscow.
